All Manner of Questions

That is certainly a fine approach to take. It is your personal practice. I am giving my personal approach here, which considers the Judge to be important to any chart about an outcome.

I agree that John Heydon’s Theomagia is not a great text on Geomancy. It is a collection of techniques he knew at the time, that seems to have been put together rather hastily, but a good source on some things. So I thought to quote that from him since I have always found it to be true.

But to say this an oversimplification of any reading. I don’t mean to say that the House chart is not significant, and I agree that the Judge and the House chart don’t disagree with one another.

Also, apologies regarding my recollection on what the Left Witness was in the Ghana chart, I was going by memory since I remembered it was something I agreed. In my system, Fortuna Major is excellent for victory, hence why I would have answer yes. A more slow moving figure, but granting a benevolent quality to Conjunctio.

Here is an article on Digital Ambler regarding the Judge, which is part of how I consider the Judge in my practice:

In any case, I have personally cast more than 900 charts, if not more than 1000 now, and have always found the Judge to answer the question accurately, save for around 10 charts or less. Even though I have taken the perfection approach before. Of course, in my practice perfection is still important and has signification, when there is a lack of perfection, that has its own meaning

I understand that. Sorry If i sounded condescending, I’m simply not agreeing with that approach since I was taught in a lineage that had long departed from this way of judgement centuries ago.

You mean Fortuna Minor? The witness was Fortuna Minor, not MAjor. Is Fortuna Minor not an evil figure in your system?

This is certainly a record worth admiration. That said, I can say the same thing regarding reading the house chart; I consider Judge as a clarification or a piece that may tie into a figure that appears in one of the houses or by reception, acting as a highligher; this is particularly evident in lost objects queries with Amissio as the judge (and the object being recovered). I can think off the top of my head of quite a few cases where the judge is definitely not enough to answer a question, but maybe that speaks more to my ability to “feel out” the result, as opposed to its accuracy.

Fascinating! I had no idea there are surviving lineages of Geomancers in the European traditions.

Apologies again! I misread. But it does not make much difference to me, although if Fortuna Minor were the Judge following the system I practice, I would likely consider it more fortunate since to me it is a more swiftly moving figure. But yes I do not consider it evil, following its Latin name and Christopher Cattan’s description of it, “Fortuna Minor is good in any affair wherein a person would go quickly and is therefore good in in the 2nd House and ill in the 8th” (The Geomancie of Master Christopher Cattan, Book III, Page 158-9)

Of course, that applies impermanace to it, hence “Agrippa’s” descriptions of it in the Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy. Favorable for things that you would not want to last long, but unfavorable for the contrary.

Very interesting! You could say our “priorities” are reversed from one another when judging a chart. But yes for me since the Judge signifies the outcome of an event/the question, I do not look towards it for the primary answer when it comes to questions about the quality of a thing or person. That I find by looking at the House Chart.

There are, but they stay underground for a good reason. My lineage can be traced back to medieval Persia, with an unbroken chain of masters and students spanning through medieval Europe, Renaissance, Endarkenment, French Revolution period, up to modern day.

Of course, figures can be favorable and unfavorable for different purposes, but for the sake of the rule of paternity I follow a table of good and evil figures. I believe Heydon also considers it evil in this context; Regardless, I checked some of my earlier sports charts to confirm this approach and I haven’t noticed it to work reliably as a rule in those queries. Some plain evil witnesses still gave victory to “the querent” team in many cases.

Entry #10 - Will Iran’s regime fall? If so, when?

Protests in Iran have been intensifying over the past weeks with doubts cast on its current regime’s ability to stay in power much longer. I asked whether they shall collapse and when.

Because I’m a foreigner to Iran, I will be turning the chart from the 9th house. The 9th house and its ruler, Mercury, is given to the people of Iran. Its regime will be turned house 10 from the 9th, or radical 6th house and its ruler, Mars.

Mars is right on the cusp of the 9th house, and as an impeded malefic, it afflicts the people of Iran through Martian means. It is retrograde and ruled by Mercury, the people, which is a good sign for them stepping down.

There is an applying opposition between Mercury and Mars, with Mercury translating the light of Venus, the Lady of the 8th house, which brings death to the regime, but the Moon will translate Mercury, who is also the dispositor of the Part of Dismissal, to Mars earlier; this is the aspect that gives judgement and confirms their collapse. That said, I don’t think the current calls for revolution will amount to much. I would say the regime will fall sometime around the summer of 2025, possibly brought about with the help of a foreign state.

Entry #11 - Will Poland win the match with Argentina?

Poland is playing with Argentina tomorrow so I asked who will win. Now, thoughts of betting on the match had crossed my mind a few times before I cast the chart, which may very well mean the chart is answering me whether I will win by betting or Poland or not, not specifically about the result of the match, hence I am not sure about this judgement, but I will render it nonetheless.

Poland gets the 1st house and its Lady, The Moon, while Argentina gets the 7th house and its Lord, Saturn.

Saturn is cadent in the 9th house, closely trined by an impeded Mars, and conjunct the South Node by antiscion; not the best place to be in. The Moon is conjunct impeded Mercury by antiscion, but she sits on the 7th house cusp, exercising dominion over it and granting Poland victory. The score? As always, I can only estimate, but I would say 1:0 for us

The result seems unlikely, further raising my suspicions about what question is this chart really answering. but perhaps there is a surprise in store for us.

Like I suspected, this is a “Will I win this bet?” chart. Goes to show how important it is to find the “real” question before delineating.

Entry #12 - Do my neighbors smoke weed?

Intrigued by the all too familiar smell permeating the hallway, I decided to cast a horary to further investigate.

Neighbors are assigned to House 3 and its Lord, Jupiter. We see Jupiter barely separating by square with The Moon, the natural ruler of intoxicants. Jupiter is in Pisces, its own rulership, but he’s about to lose control over himself by hopping into Aries. What is The Moon doing? It’s about to enter Cancer where it will exalt Jupiter, i.e. lift him high. Aha.

Entry #13 - When will the killer be caught?

Date: November 22, 2022

The following is an ad verbum journal entry recorded on the aforementioned date.

The querent was at one point studying at the University of Idaho and living in the area where the murders took place. Upon hearing about the murders in the news, she asked whether the culprit will be caught and when.

The victims (students) are in House 3 with Venus. Venus is in Sagittarius having just separated from Mercury in his detriment - fit for a killer. Mercury happens to be the ruler of the turned 12th house from the 3rd, pointing at him being a hidden enemy of some sort. Looking at the ephemeris, throughout the first decan of the sign, Venus, who is usually slower than Mercury, was speeding away from him with Mercury chasing behind her, which could be symbolic of stalking.

Mercury conjuncted Venus in the turned 2nd house from the 3rd; Sagittarius is a fiery, bestial, mutable signs, which means that at least some victims died from multiple stab wounds to the neck. The house is also turned 3rd from that of Mercury’s, meaning he probably lived in the vicinity. What’s interesting is that Mercury isn’t in any debilities of Venus, raising suspicions at the idea of the murders being fueled by personal animosity. His antiscion sits at his turned 5th house, so there is a possible sexual component involved in the motive, other than thrill.

As to his identity, the killer will have the appearance of Mercury in Sagittarius - a bit above average height, robust build, possibly a long face, slim nose, straight and dark hair. Interestingly, his turned 9th and 10th houses link back to Venus and Mercury, with Mars in Gemini sitting on his turned 10th cusp, which could mean he works in a field that relates to some airy aspect of crime. He could be a surgeon, a lawyer, a forensic, or a criminal psychologist.

The 10th house is that of the authorities. Uranus conjunct the cusp indicates this to be a high profile case. Skipping over 2 signs for a planet that can be taken to investigate an aspect, the ruler is The Moon in Scorpio. She is in Via Combusta and her fall - the police is stressed out. Why are they stressed out? Because they are inconjunct Mercury, so they cannot see the killer nor do they know where to look. This is further emphasized by him being combust - he’s hidden from view in the Sun’s light.

There is no aspect linking the police and Mercury, but Mercury will soon come out of combustion. He’s also sitting on the fixed star Antares, which is an omen of his time running out. He will become visible again at 9°55’ Sagittarius, which is 54 minutes of arc away. Adjusting for his speed, the time is brought down to 35 minutes, and because Sagittarius is double bodied, the final count goes up to around 37-38 minutes. Time to travel being under a degree, the shortest time unit is used, yielding 37-38 days from the date of the question, or December 29-30, 2022. He will be caught North of where the chart was cast.

Addendum:

On December 30, 2022, North of the chart’s location, Bryan Kohberger was arrested as a suspect in the case and charged with 4 counts of first-degree muder

Entry #14 - Will Andrew Tate be trialed and imprisoned?

Date: December 30, 2022

After hearing about Andrew Tate’s arrest, I cast a horary to find out whether he will be trialed and sent down or not.

He gets Lord 7 in its own house. He’s essentially dignified, which, under normal circumstances, would show innocence, but it does not here, which will be elaborated later on. Here, it ought to be read as him being full of himself. Being in its own house and in a fixed sign is also descriptive of being detained.

The Moon is the natural ruler of the masses. She is in Saturn’s fall and on the cusp of the 10th house, thus the public has already deemed Tate to be guilty and they are focused on the justice system. The authorities are Lord 10, Mars, sitting on Tate’s turned 5th house, which shows interest in his “works of creation” and sexual matters, or more literally, his porn productions.

Lord 5 is Mercury and it sits in Tate’s turned 12th house of secrets and self-undoing, while being conjunct Venus and Pluto. In the Roman mythos, Pluto was the god of the underworld, who only ever emerged to the surface once to kidnap Proserpina (Persephone) as his to-be wife. So, we have Venus (natural significator of women) trapped with the guy in the basement (Pluto) and conjunct (the archaic name for this aspect is coopulation) porn (Mercury). They are all in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn (Tate) and in his 12th house of vice. To add to his, if we rewind the chart a little bit, we will see Venus following a Mercury figure throughout Capricorn to Pluto. As they near him, Mercury turns retrograde and leaves while Venus moves forward to conjunct, or enter the basement of Pluto. Venus is also exalting Mars, the police. I think it paints a pretty clear picture.

Neptune, the earth-shaker, as Homer called him, is conjunct the turned 3rd cusp from Tate, which belongs to his brother. He’s also in trouble, but it looks like he might be planning something on his own. The police is putting a lot of pressure on him with Mars being in detriment of Jupiter, while he has just entered the fall of Saturn. This could mean he might enter some sort of a deal to turn on his brother and avoid punishment. Jupiter will soon oppose Neptune by antiscion, which may be symbolic of spilling the beans.

The prospective prison is signified by Lord 12, The Moon, who will sextile him from his fall in 5 degrees of arc. Tate will be sent down in 5 months, in June of 2023. His punishment will probably involve 2 conditions - prison time and taking away his right to record any more videos. Despite that, The Moon aspects Saturn from a cardinal sign, so he might not go away for long, considering the severity of his charges.

Entry #15 - Is it a real miracle?

Date: May 21, 2023

a small town recently made news in Poland after the locals saw what seems to be an apparition of either Jesus or the Virgin Mary in the bark of a tree. I asked whether it is real or not.

Saturn, the natural ruler of trees, is right on the Ascendant by antiscion. Right on it is the brilliant star Spica - The Virgin’s Spike, associated by the Catholics with Our Lady. Aha.

That is all well, but to be sure we’d want to see some contact between Mary and the tree to confirm that she in fact revealed herself through it. She is a saint, thus we should look to the 9th house and its ruler, Mercury. What is Mercury doing? It is separating from Saturn, the tree, by aspect. A conjunction would show two things united bodily, but she did not inhabit the bark materially. An aspect denotes one planet sending its rays, or its energetic signature, to the other, resulting in what could be described as a projection of its image, which is exactly what happened in reality.

It is June and Tate has just been formally charged and sent to trial. Silly mistake on my part - it is the imprisonment translating him to the Lord 10 (Justice), not justice connecting him to prison, so the date shown is for going to court, not being sentenced.

I might have read into the situation with his brother too much. Thinking back on it, Lord 10 in detriment of him isn’t really representative of cooperation; It would have been more likely with mutual reception. I can see myself getting an objectively better astrologer, though, because I wouldn’t judge it that way had I cast it today, as opposed to half a year ago.

Entry #16 - When will the killer be caught?

Date: October 26, 2023

A former navy veteran had killed his 6 year old son and went on the run. At the time of the question, he had been hiding for 6 days in a 20.000 hectare big forest. Despite a mass-scale manhunt being carried out by both the police and the military, he remained elusive. I asked when will he be apprehended.

As a stranger to the querent, he will be assigned the 7th house and its Lord, The Sun. He just left Libra and entered Scorpio, where he has no dignity or debility, thus he became peregrine. Peregrine means a wanderer - in ancient rome those were the stateless people without a citizenship who travelled through roman teritory, which is perfectly descriptive of a person who just left all of his privileges behind him and escaped to a forest he is roaming. He is also in the 8th house, traditionally known as a “dark place” due to it not being configured (seen) to the ascendant. The 8th house also signifies “fear and anguish of mind” per William Lilly, so we could suspect him to be very scared indeed. For possible locations belonging to Scorpio, a watery sign, Lilly lists:

"Places where all sorts of creeping beasts use, as beetles, &c. or such as be without wings, and are
poisonous; gardens, orchards, vineyards, ruinous houses near waters; muddy, moorish
grounds, stinking lakes, quagmires, sinks, the kitchen or larder, wash-house."

“Muddy moorish grounds”, i.e. swamps, could very much fit.

Before we go any further, it would only be appropriate to check whether the man is still alive, as he had been missing for 6 days trapped in a forest.

Beginning our investigation with the last movements of The Moon, as she is the natural ruler of missing people, we see she was void of course throughout the latter part of Pisces, thus signifying that “no news had been heard from her” (Lilly), and that the killer is “void of good in livelihood, possesses pain and hardship in the pursuit of what he needs” (Dorotheus). She also recently conjuncted Neptune - the god of the ocean and, as Homer calls him, “the earthshaker”, as he, being the author of earthquakes and other calamities, more often than not has a very malefic influence. Even before that, she opposed Venus, Lady of the 8th house, who is positioned in the house of the killer, which symbolizes a meeting with death. But this is not enough to pronounce judgement; we have to analyze the rest of the chart first.

Sun’s last aspect was to Saturn. Saturn is the natural ruler of death, almuten of the 8th house, and dispositor of the Part of Death, which in this chart falls in Aquarius. He is in Pisces, a watery sign. Considering both The Sun, Saturn, and recently The Moon, was in watery signs, the element has to hold significance. Pisces naturally represents large bodies of water, such as rivers, ponds, or seas. Saturn is also retrograde, which usually symbolizes delays, returns, rebellion… but none of it makes sense, so it has to be something else. Medieval Arabic astrologers often termed this condition “collapse”, which also obvious connotations with depth. He is also below the horizon, meaning below the surface. By antiscion, he is conjunct the South Node, which signifies restriction and limitation. Additionally, he is conjunct the fixed star Fomalhaut (Mouth of the Fish), as well as Achernar - a star in the constellation of the river Eridanus.

Fixed stars very often manifest themselves literally through their associated myths, so we should see whether Eridanus holds any relevance in that regard. As it turns out, it speaks about the son of Helios, Phaeton, who having had begged his father for ages to let him ride the chariot of The Sun across the sky, finally got a chance to prove himself. He lost control over the reins, which resulted in him almost scorching the Earth. Zeus, having seen his recklessness, struck him with a thunder bolt, which made Phaeton fall to his death into the river Eridanus.

So, putting it together, the ruler of death is in a large body of water, a deep body of water, below the surface… it restricts (both from nature as Saturn and because it is with the south node), it is swimming with the fish, in a river that killed the rider of the Solar chariot. In the greek theory of aspects, that is based on optics, the planet that is preceding in the order of the signs strikes the other one with a ray of light, while the other receives it (later on in the tradition called dexter aspects). Here, Saturn struck The Sun with a ray, but notice the aspect was mutually applying; Saturn struck and The Sun applied to him - literally “joined”. What happened to Phaeton again? struck by a ray of light and fell to his death into Eridanus? Who is riding the Solar chariot in this chart? Lord 7 is - the killer. How literal!

The aspect was a trine, so death happened easily (still mirroring the myth mind you!). It also happened very soon after he escaped, as the aspect was immediate upon Sun entering Scorpio. Now we also know how very literally Neptune worked as the god of the ocean with its past conjunction with The Moon.

Using astronomical software, we can also see the Constellation of Corvus (The Crow), associated with death, setting in the west, i.e. on the 7th cusp, which belongs to the man in question. With it, the constellation of Crater, symbolizing a water cup, carried by Hydra - a water snake.

So, he is dead, but when will he be found? To ascertain that we need to connect his significator with that of the authorities. They are assigned the 10th house and its Lord, Jupiter (same Jupiter/Zeus from the myth that brings Phaeton trouble, again). Because we clearly have a past event being shown here (Sun becoming peregrine, which symbolizes the moment of his escape), we can calibrate it to real time. He is 3 degrees into Scorpio and escaped 6 days prior to me casting the chart, so 1 degree has to equal 2 days.

The Sun is applying to an aspect with Jupiter and will perfect it at 10°30’ of Scorpio. Notice it’s an opposition, which brings things together with regret, or with so much effort that it wasn’t worth it in the end. The Sun has to travel 7°30’, which is 15 days according to our proportion. However, because the aspect is mutually applying, we can expect this to be the upper limit and for the event to happen somewhat sooner.

His body was found in a water reservoir in a swamp 11 days after the question. Death by drowning, ruled to have occured shortly after his disappearance.
