Herbal Correspondences for the Classical Planets

Herbal Correspondences for the Classical Planets

A list of herbs matching the planets according to Nicholas Culpeper’s The Complete Herbal. The planetary rulers do not always match their corresponding Zodiac Sign; Cowslip, for example, is assigned to Venus and Aries, instead of Taurus / Libra. Neither does this match up with Agrippa’s Orphic correspondences / Manilius’s Olympian correspondences, when connecting a planet with its Olympian counterpart.

This list is specific to British flora. Many of the names listed are old, local, and folkloric; please see this list for clarification.

Why not include all the Planets?

I accidentally “submitted” it ; I’m still compiling them all, lol.

Thankfully, the wonderous herb of nourishment - Tobacco - is mentioned under Mars. Correct!
Best Martian incense is gathered from communal cigarette butts - clubs, events, the street, etc. All you need is a charcoal block and some safety matches.

The kind that doesn’t light? Jk. Think I’ll stick to lighters and regular matches when I need either thanks.
