Knoxville National Cemetery

I didn’t know this abutted the Old Grey Cemetery and while I was waiting for it to open, this one already was! It was a nice bonus, especially since I ended up not going to the second older graveyard I had planned.

Most of the national cemeteries are all uniform, but this one had some unique graves in it. Those were largely the ones I photographed. I’m surprised I didn’t get stung. The mowing crews had stirred them all up and there were very few places that didn’t have them buzzing about over the space.

Man, I love this idea. Among other reasons, these pictures are going to last so much longer than most of these tombstones.

A lot of them are really interesting, too! I’ve always liked tree-looking tombstones. Haha

Thanks, man. I try to show how impermanent even the stones are. For all their strength and durability, they, too, will fade with time.
